I’m Monique and my sidekick is Nick, my husband. Here at Yes2Yolo, we share authentic & high-quality content on how you can get the most out of owning a property as well as our TravelSimple experiences & tips to inspire you to get up, go and live your best life. If you are with us, say YES2YOLO.
So here's a little story behind our blog...
Together Nick and I have explored over 60 countries by air, train, sea, river, submarine & road (no space shuttles yet but who knows! Anything is possible, right?). We have also partnered on some truly exciting projects such as creating and running a successful Airbnb business, chairing condo boards, purchasing fixer-uppers and renovating them from scratch on our own while balancing all of this with full-time jobs and family responsibilities.
So what’s this blog all about! We’ll help you to get the most out of owning a property whether it’s identifying a great fixer-upper, renovating on a budget, staging to help you get the best price when you sell or setting up an Airbnb/short-term rental.
Much of our blog is focused on our travel experiences, the places that we’ve been to, some of which are not typical mainstream destinations (I’m thinking of places like Senegal, Pakistan, Croatia, Slovenia & Paraguay).
We’ll also share some of our TravelSimple experiences & tips to motivate you to get up, go and live your best life. If you are with us, say YES to YOLO. You only live once so live your BEST life!

Hi, I'm Monique
My mother named me Monique Renée after a main character from a 1970s Mills & Boon romance novel. Because of that, I am often mistaken for being French. But I’m not! I am Jamaican.
I created Yes2Yolo© at age 43 after quitting my 16-year career as a corporate lawyer and senior executive in the financial services industry. What I love most about my new life is that I have the freedom to work from wherever I want to and whenever I want to!
I now consider myself a Rat Race Retiree (RRR)©, Blogger, Writer, Travel Addict, and Sometime Lawyer. I think at my very core, I am a creative artistic being. My senses explode and come alive when I dabble in the arts, such as photography, home staging and experiencing new cultures.
I happen to be married to the sweetest, kindest English bloke ever (Nick) and we share common interests, passions and values. I swear he’s the greatest guy in the whole wide world and he was handcrafted just for me. We are an inter-racial couple and absolutely enjoy exploring the world together. Throughout our travels, we inspire and celebrate diversity and inclusion.

Hi, I'm Nick
I’m Nick and my biggest claim to fame is that for some bizarre reason, the wonderful Monique agreed to be my partner in life.
Visiting foreign countries has been an important part of my life since my parents moved to Kano in Nigeria in 1977. Since then, as both a military officer and in later jobs I have enjoyed the huge privilege of being exposed to many different countries and cultures.
I came to Jamaica in 2006, and I have three citizenships: UK, Canada and Jamaica. I am delighted to be able to support Monique and Yes2Yolo primarily by contributing travel articles, providing editing and proof-reading services and being a general sounding board.
My life has become immeasurably better just by knowing Monique, and I know that yours will too.
